From the Farmer

We have a few different things to tell you about this week. Some of you may have already seen this on Facebook.  Even so, it is worth sharing as we have invested in something that is going to save our backs…. a potato harvester!

Up until now, we have dug them with a machine, crated them in the field, and then walked them through what feels like beach sand to a 16 bushel bin. As you can imagine it was back breaking. Now we just stand there and let the machine mow the plants, dig the potatoes and the conveyor sends them into the bin. All we have to do it sort the rocks out. This make potato harvesting pleasant and will save the crews energy for other tasks that need to be done. It will also save a few trips to PT or the chiropractor. HURRAY!

Second, I wanted to introduce you to Brian Neyenhouse and his family. They are CSA members of ours, and he has a business called Nutty Bird.
Nutty Bird offers premium, handcrafted granola that is filled with fruit and nuts.  We love it and sell it here at the farm. Delicious on its own, paired with yogurt or even as a topping for ice cream.  Come in to the Farm Stand to learn more.
See you at the farm,

Flower Share

The flower share is a big hit this year! The fields are spectacular right now, full of all kinds of annuals and perennials. For those of you who didn’t sign up for a share: good news! Right now, anyone can pick a jar of flowers for $9.99.
